Hola. I'm Damien.
I've been a graphic designer for over 10 years in California's beautiful Livermore Valley. Soon after graduating from the Art Institute of California—San Francisco, I found a position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Over the past ten years my day job has given me the opportunity to practice my craft as a designer, and more recently, as a photographer.
My passion for photography began after the film-to-digital transition, around 2005. Although I briefly studied film photography, digital intrigued the designer in me. I could now instantly capture a scene and have it on my computer screen in seconds, maneuvering pixels into beautiful works of art in less time than it would have taken to develop a roll of film.
My most recent adventure started just over three years ago when my beautiful daughter, Eden, was born. I started experimenting with lighting so I could capture her precious moments, and document her growth. Lighting people was an intimidating task before she was born. Although I could recognize good light in a landscape scene, creating that good quality of light on a person was an entirely different challenge. Luckily she was a very cooperative subject that didn't mind daddies big camera and bright lights. Thanks to her I'm completely comfortable and competent lighting people in all situations; indoor, outdoor, and in a studio.
Life is good. Never stop learning to create art in new ways, it'll keep you young.
